About CYF
At Marble’s CYF ministry, we teach children and youth about love, kindness, diversity, inclusiveness, community, and faith in action, among so much more. We inspire creativity, build long-lasting friendships, make a difference in our community/world, and have fun.
We teach children about a loving God, Jesus’ life and lessons, and the vibrant stories from an over 2,000 year-old “library of books” – The Bible.
We also find stories of faith in other places: theatre, music, art, movies, television, etc., and find inspiration to do good in the world – and treat others with love and acceptance along the way.
Marble’s CYF is a community that welcomes all and provides a safe space for children and youth to ask questions, feel heard and seen, and have plenty of fun!
We also bring the adults in our families together to create community and friendships. We see you – not just as parents and guardians – but as members of our church family.
Join us on Sundays and for special events throughout the year.
Registration is open and required.
All are welcome, and we look forward to seeing you soon!

Sarah Cheatham, Youth Director
Sarah is overjoyed to be joining the Marble family as the new Youth Director! Sarah is from North Carolina and grew up in the Presbyterian Church. She earned her BFA in Drama from NYU Tisch in 2016 and has been living and working in NYC ever since. Sarah is a teaching artist as well as an actor and voice over artist. Along with leading the Marble youth group, she also volunteers in the Children’s Ministry of Bethel CAN and at the Bowery Mission. Sarah loves to sing, play board games, eat southern food, travel, watch college basketball (Go Tar Heels!), and spend time with her wonderful friends and family. She is honored and humbled to join the youth on their faith journey and excited to grow and learn along with them through building community, serving others, and having fun!

Olivia St. Peter, Lead Teaching Artist, Pre-K through 1st Grades
Olivia is so excited to be joining the team at Marble! Olivia graduated from Syracuse University with a BFA in Musical Theatre in 2021 and moved to NYC shortly after where she began her acting and teaching artist journey. She has worked with Virginia Repertory Theatre and Treehouse Shakers, as well as a voice-over artist with NPR. Outside of theatre, Olivia can usually be found listening to Taylor Swift, buying too many plants, or watching Gilmore Girls!

Oanfa Quan, Lead Teacher 2nd - 4th Grades
“Miss Oanfa” is returning for the 2022-2023 Church School year! Her family has been a part of Marble since the ministry of Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. However, the spiritual education of children has been where Miss Oanfa has answered the call to serve. She graduated from Pace University-NYC with a double Major in Political Science/Communications and a Business Minor. Her studies continued with a degree in Medical Massage Therapy from the Swedish Institute (NYC), but she is most proud of a recently completed 2-year program in Theological and Biblical Studies. Using this, as well as the artistic creations she is known for, Miss Oanfa looks forward to continuing learning, creating and growing in God’s love with her students!

Chris Vega, Lead Teacher, 5th and 6th Grades
Chris is looking forward to returning for another year with the CYF team. A native New Yorker originally from the Bronx, he has been a Marble member for thirteen years. Chris is a chemical engineer by background with an MBA in finance and a Masters of Divinity from New York Theological Seminary. He has been part of the CYF team for several years including chaperoning the youth mission trip to St. Thomas in 2020. During the week he manages the distribution and supply chain operations of a sugar refinery in Yonkers. Chris uses the graphic novel and comic book medium to teach his students biblical stories and Christian tradition. In his spare time he enjoys reading speculative fiction, weight lifting and boxing.

Kenya Powell, Teaching Artist / Child Care Provider
Kenya is very excited to be returning to Marble’s CYF and to be with her extended church family after such a long time apart due to the pandemic. Kenya’s love for kids is so great that not only is she around them for her full-time job (with the NYC public school system) but she loves Sundays at Marble with the CYF as well. In her spare time, Kenya loves reading, shopping, and hanging out with her two kids as much as possible. We are thrilled to have Kenya back in the CYF this year!

Kevin Loreque, Teaching Artist, 5th and 6th Grades
Kevin has been in the performing arts since he was four years old and knows how it can help shape young people’s lives in positive ways. He has been in over 100 different theatre productions, from Broadway tours to regional theaters, has coached and helped actors and young artists for years, and lately has been doing more television and film. Kevin is grateful to be back at Marble Collegiate Church, thanks to Brian Hampton, where he’s had the pleasure of performing in a few different plays. And now he’s thrilled to be working with and teaching a new generation of young artists.
Siobhan Stevenson, Teaching Artist, Pre-K through 1st Grades
Siobhan is very excited to join Marble’s CYF for her first year! A Bay Area native, she graduated from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts where she studied at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute and has been in New York ever since. Since graduating, she has split her time between a career in hospitality and acting and directing with Bizarre Noir Theatre Company (her New York theatre family with whom she’s been delighted to work for the last 10 years). Outside of teaching, theatre, and work, you can most often find her at the beach as often as the weather permits and hanging out with her pit-lab mix who doesn’t know he’s too big to be a lap dog, Buddy.
