The Nativity
Dedication: December 17, 2000

Artist: Sarah Hall
Upper Scene (Luke 2): An intricate vision of the events surrounding Jesus Christ’s birth is presented. Shepherds gather before the manger in awe of the mystery that God has come in human form. The Star of David shines over Earth as a reminder of our faith heritage, and recalls the prophecy of a Messiah coming to be “the light of the world.”
Lower Scene (Luke 1:25-38): Mary prayerfully receives the words of the Angel Gabriel. In the angel’s hand a lily with thorns reminds us of the poignancy and love that merge in the Annunciation. In the Renaissance motif, we see a crucible of what is to come on a distant hillside.
